The summer solstice is when the sun seems to stand still. It is the longest day of the year and has the most daylight. And for us sun-loving creatures, this means more time at the beach, laying in the sand and enjoying the cool blue waters of the ocean.
June solstice marks the astronomical end of spring and start of summer for the northern hemisphere. This is when the sun reaches its highest point in the sky and to other cultures, it symbolizes ascension and the return of the light.
Yes, we’re a bit biased, but we love the beach! After all, Madison Ashley is about ocean-inspired jewelry. We are inspired by the blue of the waves, and all things tropical! Why? Because to us, the beach is connected to amazing adventures and memorable moments with friends and family.
Normally, this is the best time to take out the coolers and pack the whole family into the car for a beach trip! Have a picnic, play frisbee or volleyball, and watch the sunset with cold drinks at hand.
We know that not everyone can go to the beach during these times but keeping the beach spirit alive is what we do. You can have a luau-themed barbecue in your backyard or a coastal cocktail party as you spend time with your family. If you’ve got girls, mermaid parties are always a hit! Remember, a beach day doesn’t always need sandy shores, it just needs to embody the tropical spirit!
Having a relaxed evening bonfire with the kids, whether at the beach or in the backyard making s’mores, is always a win.
Bring out the guitar or ukulele, sing and dance to your favorite songs, or share stories. AND if you’re celebrating something special, you can also pop out a bottle of wine and get your charcuterie board in order. In our experience, bonfire nights have always been fun!
Create flower crowns, sun catchers for your windows, shell flowers, and other ocean/sun-inspired crafts to bring some coastal energy into your day. You can even create decorations for a backyard beach party, or transform your home interior to a summer haven through your handmade crafts!
We believe in positivity and health. These are things that are very important, especially amidst this time of the pandemic.
Yoga improves respiration, energy, and vitality. It helps increase flexibility, muscle strength, and tone. By taking a few minutes to stretch, you’re getting in a light cardio workout and improving your circulatory health.
Set your intention and meditate. Take care of your mental health and help your body heal from within.
