Today is Earth Day and we humans were placed here on this planet to protect its natural resources for future generations. We have taken our natural resources for granted and it’s time to turn things around.
It so nice that many companies are taking the initiative to make a change and you can take part in this change too.
Caring for our planet starts with us and if you want to join in on the movement, here are some ways to help restore our earth.
Refuse the plastic bags from the supermarket, especially for those who likes using more than what is needed. Bring your own bag or containers to help cut down on waste.
Reduce the amount of one-time use items. The biggest pollutants in our oceans are wrappers and other plastic wastes like bottles and bags that you can do without or if you can’t about them, at least try to use them more than once.
Reuse bottles, jars, and other things that can be used for other purposes and recycle or upcycle them when you get the chance. Of course, these “wastes” will eventually break down to micro plastics or end up on the landfills so if you can totally remove waste from your life, the oceans would appreciate more.
Recycling or upcycling and reusing things can only do so much but each effort goes a long way.
One of the usual Earth Day traditions are clean up drives but we might not be seeing that this year because of the virus BUT that doesn’t mean you can’t do it on your own. We don’t need to join organized events for us to take action.
You can help by picking up trash when you’re by the beach or when diving, you can pick up bottles when you’re jogging in the morning, or start a waste segregation club in your community. Any effort to make sure that our disposables don’t end up on the landfill which eventually finds its way to the ocean is a big help.
Madison Ashley donates to wildlife and ocean conservation groups and we’re not the only ones who does this. We may have a long way to go before we’re completely zero waste but we’re working to get there little by little. There are also several brands that are working hard to make a difference in the world, to help save the environment, and to help take care of the ocean, the forest, or just about anything related to nature. These brands are the ones worth supporting because at least some of your money goes towards a good cause.
You use water in almost everything you do. You drink water, it nourishes the plants that produce oxygen for you, your body and the food you eat, and most of all, it is in your oceans, your rivers and so many other things. Water is life, water is in you.
We recently wrote a blog on 5 Ways To Conserve Clean Water for World Water Day. Read the blog to find out more.
The best time to plant a tree was 20 years ago. A lot of forests are no longer green, illegal loggers are over cutting trees, and reforestation hasn’t been able to keep up with the constantly growing demand and human consumption.
Aside from the things we mentioned in this blog, there are so many other things that we can do to help Restore our Earth. The first step to making a change is education. Find out the real problems of Mother Nature. There’s global warming or climate change, the rising number of islands of garbage in the ocean, and so many more. You can also share this information and educate the people around you. Just like ripples, no small amount of effort goes unnoticed.
What are you doing to make a difference today? Let us know your answers.
