Five Ways to Kick Start Your Morning

April 26, 2019

As we go through the year, we've been making constant efforts to put wellness at the top of our list.

Whether it be taking a soothing bubble bath, or scheduling a gym session, we're making it a point to put a little bit of wellness into each day.

With busy schedules it can feel impossible to take little moments for ourselves.

Most days feel like a blur. We wake up, get ready as quick as possible and rush out the door to begin our stressful ‘to-do’ list.

If you ask us, we think mornings are the most important part of any day. It’s the beginning of a whole new day to set new intentions, reach new goals, and allow new experiences to enter our world.

Since mornings are such a pivotal point of the day, we wanted to give you some tips on how to make the most of your morning, so you can have a productive, positive day!

1. Wake Up Early

I know, it doesn’t sound like much fun, but waking up even thirty minutes earlier can make all the difference to your day.

If you’re worried waking up earlier won’t give you enough sleep, then do yourself the favor of going to bed a bit earlier than you typically would.

Stay away from screens so your brain knows it’s time to rest. Drink a cup of tea, or read a book to get yourself in the mood to snooze at an earlier time.

By getting up earlier in the morning, that gives us more time for the things that make us feel the best.

2. Drink Hot Water with Lemon

It’s not the usual cup of joe, but the benefits of starting your day with hot water and lemon are too great to pass.

Drinking hot water with lemon first thing in the morning has been proven to show major improvements to the skin, digestive system, and overall gut health. Who doesn’t want that?

3. Meditate

Life adds a lot of stress from work, family, and the many unpredictable events. This can put a damper on your mental health.

Take a few minutes every morning to sit still, close your eyes, and allow your thoughts to flow, whether they be negative or positive.

Acknowledge all feelings. Breathing in the good ones, and breathing out the bad one.

You'll find yourself in a calmer space to make a lasting positive effect for the rest of the day.

4. Journaling

Writing can be one of the greatest forms of therapy.

If there are negative feelings that you're itching to release, try writing them down first thing in the morning to enter your day with a clean slate.

Journaling can also be a great tool for writing down your 'To Do' lists.

Seeing your tasks organized may help you focus on getting them done, and you'll get a satisfied feeling of crossing off tasks as the day goes on.

5. Play

Why do mornings need to feel so serious and rushed?

Take the intensity out of it by putting music on while you cook breakfast, spend a few minutes chatting with someone who makes you laugh, or take a yoga class.

Adding a little bit of pay time to your morning starts your day at a high.
